The Vice President's Executives Puzzle

The Vice President has trapped 3 executives from different portfolios. The 3 executives are told they must solve a puzzle before they are set free. The VP will tell each of them a number and they must guess the sum of the 3 numbers. They cannot communicate with each other in any form except: Each of them asks the warden a 'Yes or No' question and all 3 of them can hear the question and the answer. They can discuss a strategy before the VP assigns them a number. They can only ask questions that have logical answers and if they try to trick the VP with a paradoxical question, he just ignores them. Other than that the VP answers truthfully. What strategy do the executives use to guarantee their escape?
